I build businesses, invest in companies, write, and host parties. I spent most of my life in China and now call New York home. Business Insider called me the "Gatsby of Silicon Alley," though I've never actually read the book.

I was born in Hong Kong. At 25, I moved to New York City at the peak of the pandemic, not knowing a single person.

I started hosting “meetups” to build my own community. Eventually, they became about helping other people find theirs.

Somehow, it worked.

What started as meetups turned into an events and media company and a founder community. We’ve done millions in revenue without raising a single dollar of capital. Along the way, I’ve reinvested into 25+ startups as an angel, backing founders I met through my events, including Superpower, Wispr Flow, Othership, Carry, and Hill.com. I left my job at Google to do this full time.

Since then, over 75,000 CEOs, investors, and tech professionals have attended my events across 8 cities. They come to make friends and do business. We’ve been sponsored by some of the largest institutions in the world: Fidelity, J.P. Morgan, Perplexity, American Express, Notion, HubSpot, and 100+ others.

I was fortunate enough to build an outlier career for myself, and it’s been rewarding in every way imaginable.

For the next era of my career, I want to help others find their own outlier path. Because I believe there are far more ways to build an extraordinary life than the 9 to 5.
